Hi guys!
Dore's Tikifuckos crew are going for a spot behind Gigsville and have invited the Staples to share camp space with them.
Last year Gigsville was around 3-4 o clock and a few streets in and took up a whole block.
I think they're going for Esplanade placement this year, so a spot behind them would likely somewhere around 3:30 and B or C.
This sounds like a great location to me - not ON the Esplanade, but close enough for convenience.
CheezyBob will be submitting the Tikifuckos location request to the BMorg soon - if ya'll are interested, he'll request that Broken Staple be near Tikifuckos, and we can do the same (I'll find out who to contact).
Who's up for trying for this location?

Mon, May 12, 2008 - 11:18 AMI have camped in this area for the last 4 years. 3:30 and C, 4:00 and D, 4:20 and E, 4:30 and D,E. To me it's perfect. Due to the most common wind directions on the playa, this area is less dusty, and the center of wind tunnels seem to miss this area more. Of course, this is just my personal reasearch by performing comparisons while on the playa.
So yeah, I am ALL about camping in this area. And of course, I love the Gigsvillians.

I need to give CheezyBob a headcount and general space requirements asap so he can include us in his space request.
We figure that this will be easier than us trying to register BS as a theme camp, since we don't have any public projects in our space (that I'm aware of) and official camp placement requires that your camp have some kind of interactivity.
Tikifuckos has a public party dome (with a margarita slurpee machine!!!) and chill dome and has a big open luau every year, and they've been registered before, so they've got their "theme camp" requirements covered and are willing to include any of us who want to camp in the neighborhood in their request, and we can just set up our stuff within part of their alotted space and create our own little BS family corner however we want.
So far I've got:
Me and Dore
MoJo (maybe, but I'll count you guys anyway just in case!)
Bunny
Lynnsane
Who else wants to be included?
This isn't an absolute commitment - just a general prelim. headcount so we can attempt to secure some prime real estate. If anyone changes their mind later, that's fine.
Better to sign up now and then camp elsewhere if you choose, than not sign up now and try to squeeze in later! -

Actually, the location sounds pretty nice to me, especially if we can have enough individual space and not be forced to do "getto" camping, like Green/Moon was last year. I needs me front yard! -

But if you don’t sign up now, you won’t be able to take advantage of the land grab.
This is the perfect opportunity for the Staples and Friends to reserve some prime real estate to get us all in one place!!!
Just tell me you're in, and give me an estimate of how much space you want and they'll factor it into their land grab....
then it'll be there if you want it, or you can let it go and they'll find someone else to take it.
I don't need Maybes - please just tell me if you want to be included in this land grab request.
I need a headcount and a space estimate.

It sounds good though. What is the earliest we can arrive? Can we get in early becasue we are part of a theme camp? It's important to me because my ride goes a few days early to work with the DMV.

Bunny space is a 10x20 costco carport and a small vehicle (or cargo van, if bunny ride shares).
All my crap... er, I mean... essentials - fit under the carport.
P.S. An obvious thing I'm not seeing here is evaporation ponds.

I've put the question to CheezyBob.
Last year the 'Tikifuckos had an awesome tropically-decorated battery-pump shower that was open for camp use. Just bring your own water and haul it away to dispose of however you see fit. As I recall, it drained into a catch basin that you'd just empty into your own container.
They didn't have an evap pond. I think they had enough transport space that everyone just took their gray water out with them.
I've queried CheezyBob about the shower sitch.
If ya'll want to consider building an evap pond, let me know and I'll factor in some space for it.

CheezyBob says that the shower will be there and available to all to use (but you don't HAVE to, Bunny!) :)
BYOW and take it away.
Last year they: "brought a 55 gal drum and filled it up as the week went. It was supposed to be used for only 4 people but every one kept using it so it was kinda full by the end of the week."
If we do an evap, lets keep it away from the shower so everyone else doesn't empty their shower water into it. -

I would like to suggest that with all of us Staples uniting together here, that perhaps we could be a self contained camp and not have to rely on others to provide showers and such for us. In fact, maybe we could begin disscussion on how we can form our own little village within the larger beast. As far as other making comittments elsewhere, maybe we could designate an area for those Staples to have a sattillite camping area with us----a home away from the other huge invasive mess that they will have made for themselves (Hehe).
